Drumlane GAA Club

Ladies Football
Our club has been very active at all levels during the year U12, U14, U16 and
senior ladies who got to the semi-final of the All Ireland 7's. Thanks to trainers and
all who help out at training it is much appreciated. New members and helpers

Seniors continues on Monday nights at 8:30pm with good numbers attending.
Juniors on Sunday evenings between 6pm and 8pm have finished up for the
Christmas holidays and will restart in the New Year. New members are always
welcome to come along for the fun and fitness.

The club now has a regular attendance of 16 to 22 members and has two teams
participating in the county league and doing very well, hopefully silverware this
year!. Milltown is honored this year again to host two rounds of the national
competitions. One round has already been played and the two winners Martin
Brady and Joe Brady both from our club go forward to the semi-finals in
Monaghan. The second round had to be postponed due to weather conditions and
we are hopeful to have more Milltown members join Martin & Joe when this round
is played. More new members always welcome.

Well done to all the young people of the club, who did Drumlane proud with their
performances at Scór na nÓg, which was held in our Resource Centre recently.
Great credit is due to our Scór Officer, Amanda Brady, and to the parents and
mentors for all the preparation that went into dancing, singing, music, drama and
quiz. The Ceilí Dancers, Solo Singer (Shauna McManus) and Quiz team qualified
for the County Final, held in Laragh. Congratulations to Kian Monahan,
Francis Lunney and Ryan Connolly who won the County Quiz Final and
represented Drumlane and Cavan in the Ulster Scór Competition.

Self Defence
Classes in "Shinken-Do" takes place in the community resource centre on
Wednesday evenings at 7 pm. No previous experience required. First class free
of charge. Contact Ewa Moskwa 086-731 4380. All welcome.

The AGM was held on 8 September and the new committee are: Chairperson
Jeannie O'Reilly, Vice Chairperson: Karen McCahill, Secretary Siobhan Brady, Sec. position unfilled. Treasurer: Ann Marie Cassidy, Vice Treasurer: Grainne PRO: Siobhan Fay. Drumlane Community Partnership Ltd. Representatives:
Bernard Burns & Dermot O Connor. Currently there are eleven members of staff the facility with Rosaleen Morgan, manager who is contactable at 049-9529072

Parent & Toddler Group
The group continues to run every Friday 10 am to 12. We are planning a night out mums for Christmas. The children are looking forward to their annual Christmas
party. This year we are doing a lot of art work with crayons, water painting and play
dough. The play kitchen continues to be popular and the tractors are a big hit. We
will resume in the New Year and new members are always welcome. Cost is €5 family and includes a snack for children plus coffee and snack for parents. Contact

Drumlane Social Services
We would like to wish all the Senior Citizens a very Happy Christmas & Health and
Happiness in 2011. We are not holding our monthly meeting at the end of December
but we will be up and running again on the last Sunday in January. We will be in
contact mid January in relation to the Annual Christmas Party with Belturbet in the
Seven Horse Shoes. Hope to see you all at our events in 2011.

The club restarted on 8 October and elected its new committee on the 15th. The committee are as follows; Chairperson: Fergal Fitzpatrick, Vice Chairperson: Nicole
McConnell, Secretary: Carleen Flynn, Vice Secretary: Kian Monahan, Treasurer: McGuire, Vice Treasurer: Caroline Rooney, PRO: Emma Brady. At the moment
members are working towards the Christmas activities.

Line Dancing
Has now finished for the Christmas Holidays. There has been very good support the last season. The line dance classes will restart on Tuesday 1 February at 8pm the Community Resource Centre. John & Julie would like to say many thanks to
everyone who supported us and happy Christmas to all. So, get our boots on and
lets get dancing!!!

Civil Defence
Classes are now back on Wednesday nights although there has been a break to dangerous road condition. The Civil Defence members have been helping local communities during the recent snow storms, getting community nurses to patients and making sure isolated people are safe and well. Cavan Civil Defence been active in this regard especially in Glangevlin, Gowlan and Blacklion area. local class in Milltown will soon be 30 years inexistence and congratulations to who received long service medals recently Martin Brady and Teresa Brady 10 medal and Anna Fitzpatrick 20 year medal.

All those who are trained are asked to keep a check on the defibrillators to make sure
that they are working.

Community Website/Newsletter
All groups are thanked for forwarding information for the newsletter and for helping
keep the website, updated. Please keep new information coming in to or put a note into the post box at the Community Resource Centre
or forward to Carl, Suzanne, Anna or Mary.

The catering committee has been very busy since our last newsletter. In August we
hosted our largest function Fr. Dan Sheridan's farewell with a large attendance.
Sincere thanks to all who helped by baking and our usual dedicated volunteers who
help out all the time. We cater for funerals, anniversaries and various meetings
where local organisations requested refreshments and provided shop facilities for
Scor na nOg. Families wishing to avail of the catering facilities after removals or
funerals MUST contact Anna Fitzpatrick phone 049-9526241 / 086-889 8045 or Mary
Lawlor 049-9522661 / 087-9221442. Refreshments will only be made
available at the request of families. We wish to acknowledge families who have
expressed their sincerest appreciation for the services provided and were very
generous to the Community Resource Centre in return.

Drumlane Community Partnership
AGM was held on Monday 15 November, committee elected as follows; Chairperson:
Bernard Burns, Vice: Clive Magee, Secretary: Anna Fitzpatrick, Vice: Rosaleen
McGuire. Treasurer: Mary Lawlor, Vice: Cathal Cunningham. PRO Declan Fitzpatrick.
Seamus & Carmel McCann were thanked most sincerely for their keyholding and all
organizations were once again reminded that all booking must be made through
Margaret Fitzpatrick 9522430. Sincere thanks to all who participated or supported the
annual sponsored walk which once again was a great success.

Drumlane Community Garden
Saturday mornings 10 am to 12 p.m. from mid February. A six week gardening
