Ladies 2011

Dec 12, 2011

2011 has been a truly fantastic year for underage Ladies football in the Club. In fact it is the first year since ladies football began in the club that a county Trophy was brought back to Drumlane.
Our under 12 ladies team retained the Jenny Stewart Memorial Cup, and were unbeaten in their Group 1 non-competitive league..
Our under 13 ladies won their Division 2 league in July.
Our under 14 ladies made it to the semi-final stages of both the Division 2 league and championship.
Our under 16 ladies made it to the Division 4 semi-final of the league and won the Division 4 championship.

The Junior squad beat a highly fancied Ballymachugh
in Packie Devlin Park in Killeshandra on Sep 3rd with a final scor line of
4-11 to 4-7. It was a very proud day for Drumlane Ladies when captain
Bronagh Boyle lifted the Junior Championship Cup.

Drumlane met St pauls of Antrim in the quarter finals of the Ulster
Championship which was played in terrible weather conditions in Belfast on
October 1st but Drumlane emerged victorious nevertheless. However, in the
next round Sperrin Og from Tyrone put paid to Drumlane’s challenge for an
Ulster title. It is some little consolation that Sperrin Og went on to win
the All Ireland club title.

Claire Kearns and Bronagh Sheridan were on the County Ladies team which
lost to Westmeath in a replay in Croke Park on October 9th.

All in all it has been an amazing year for ladies football in Drumlane and a hugh thank you to the players and all involved in helping towards the success of the Club.
