The Under 8 boys and girls have been having a fun filled few months at training with big numbers diligently turning up to every session. On Saturday 3rd July we were delighted to play host the Under 8’s from famous St Vincent’s GAA Club in Dublin together with their mentors and
parents who travelled up to Milltown for a mini blitz.
Three Teams from each club consisting of nine players each, playing
20mins a side games, meant that each child had the opportunity to play
circa 2 hours of solid football in a friendly, but competitive &
entertaining environment where the emphasis was in the partaking rather
than the winning/losing.
Great credit is due for the huge success of the day and this was
possible due to the wonderful contribution of the community for pulling
together on the day. A big thank you to all the parents who answered the rallying call and who provided the fantastic array of sandwiches, cakes, buns etc and all the
refreshments. Also a big thank you to those who toiled in the kitchen
throughout the long day and also to those who assisted in the
impressively organised clean-up operation which was carried out with
military precision. Also to those who helped out during the games as
referees, first aiders and to those who took the much needed
refreshments to the players. And to everyone who attended and supported
the all the players during the day.
A special thanks to all everyone from St Vincents for making the journey
and for kindly presenting the Drumlane players with medals as a gesture of
appreciation for the day, we look forward to the development of this bond between both clubs in the years to come.
