DRUMLANE GATHERING: We had a wonderful week, launch on Monday, with a sports day, and also all organisations showcasing their work, a BBQ and fantastic entertainment by Milltown Comhaltas. A successful senior citz outing on Tuesday, again with entertainment from Comhaltas and refreshments provided by the hard working catering committee. Wednesday night by all accounts went well in Ballyhugh and the fun still has to come. On thursday about 30 people enjoyed a talk by Dr. Brendan Scott on Fays coach trip around some historical sites. Friday over 30 teams of four Golfers are showing their skills at the Drumlane GFC Golf classic and partied till late in the Golf club.
Saturday was the survival of the fittest, starting with a cycle of the boundaries of the parish at 9.30am, children’s cycle at 10am. Open day in the school from 12midday until 4pm, finishing with their fund raising draw. Also an open day in the community garden. A very enjoyable childrens treasure hunt was held at 4pm and skittles were well and truly enjoyed at Milltown cross with some people playing a game they had never even seen before
Also, just encase some of you didn’t hear about our Mock Wedding, with a very special cast. Congratulations to Willie, Fanny all their family and friends. They put on a fantastic show. It was enjoyed immensely by all who attended.
The week was complete when Suzanne Gunn lowered the Gathering flag on Sunday morning
