
Drumlane Christmas Tree Committee has been in operation for over thirty years, without exception. The committee orgainzes Santas visit. It also ensures that the village is seasonally lit with small christmas trees and a full size tree in the centre of the village.
When all toys have be distributed, a fund-raising baazar takes place in the community centre with lots of prizes. A party for the children takes place following the baazar.
Santa brings toys to a average of 200 children in the parish. The man in the red suit and grey beard arrives at the Community Centre on the Sunday before Christmas – usually by the humble donkey and cart. However, in 2007, Santa moved with the times and arrived in Milltown by helicopter.
